It’s almost over. Soon we shall receive the answer to the toughest riddle since the Gordian Knot. Unfortunatley this couldn’t be solved by simply chopping all the girls in two and analyse their rings like trees. But it doesn’t matter anymore. With only one episode to go, we will finally know WHO IS IMOUTO once and for all! By this stage, we don’t need to do anymore speculation. But I’m going to speculate anyway, because I have completely run out of bloody nonsensical idiotic ideas on what to write about with this series.
Theory 1: IMOUTO is a fictional creation
Araya, for those who aren’t keeping track of the names in this show (which includes me, thank god for MAL), is the chief reporter for the newspaper at the school. Thing is, there’s really not much to report on in Sleepy Anime Town. She has delusions of grandeur, jumping on the table and pointing fingers at random passer-bys. To spark something of interest in this godforsaken town, she has concocted a wild story of lost sisters, pouncing on a hazy memory of a polite but idiotic son of a corporate billionaire. The end of the episode revealed that the memory of a sister simply came from a TV show he watched as a kid. Remember, that shot of Ikusa at the computer, rewinding the tape of the old anime to see the vital scene? Through this hazy memory, Araya has managed to create this myth of IMOUTO! Potato-kun could have boned every single one of the girls in the town already, but has held back due to the wild story that Araya has planted in his head. There was never any IMOUTO. It was just a ruse to create some column inches.
Theory 2: Kannagi will make herself IMOUTO
Kannagi’s actions this episode have entered the territory of severe mental breakdown. She’s incapable of going to school or even getting out of bed without prior approval from Potato-kun. She throws herself at him totally naked in a desperate bid to get his attention. She’s even turned to alcoholism to mask her depression and desperation. There are two possible outcomes to this. One is that she’s depressed because she is IMOUTO and therefore can’t tell Potato-kun that because then he won’t marry her and have 5 bajillion kids together, which instantly answers the question of WHO IS IMOUTO. The second option is that she is so desperate to become his IMOUTO that she’s going to drug him, drag him to an abandoned family hotel, strap him to a chair in his underwear, and then physically inject his blood into her so that she becomes his blood relation and therefore becomes IMOUTO. The answer to the question is pretty simple when you look at it like this. IMOUTO’s aren’t born. They’re made.
Theory 3: Yuzurina killed IMOUTO and devoured her soul
As the latest episode have made completely clear with her sly grins, Yuzurina is evil. She is the embodiment of evil, bewitching innocents and spreading false truths. Yes, what I am saying is that Yuzurina is the devil incarnate. Listen to her voice, it clearly sounds like Satan after he has breathed in some helium. If you slow it down and then play it backwards and then put your head underwater, it just repeats the words “that was an awful lot of effort to put into hearing this message and also I’m the devil” over and over again. So what happened was Potato-kun’s dad was not the only person to die on that day. It was also IMOUTO. The devil killed them both and took on the form of IMOUTO to tempt Potato-kun to the path of evil. The entire story of WHO IS IMOUTO is a metaphor for the temptation of the devil and the only way Potato-kun can banish the evil in his heart is to kill everyone and then watch nothing but Happy Science anime movies for the rest of his life.
