Sekai Seifuku Episode 6: Writing in Verse is a Curse and Also Roboko is in a School Uniform

That should be more than enough to sell the show for those who haven’t seen it. I mean it’s a robot in glasses and a school uniform who has a schoolgirl mode programmed in and is passive-aggressive as fuck toward our lead. For the rest of you, enjoy this week’s butchering of the very concept of writing in verse.

Asuta goes to school with worries nary
Of Zvezda tainting of his sanctuary
But of course he ushered and tempted fate
And in transferred Roboko and Kate
With the flimsiest of disguises
And the most obvious of lies(es).

It was hard not to make this an ode
To Roboko’s wonderful schoolgirl mode.
Roboko continues to be best girl
Her passive-aggression fun to watch unfurl
Something about her glasses makes me beam
Shame she doesn’t get more time onscreen.

What better way to tempt villainy
Than with a treasure mystery?
There is none, assumes HOWAITO LIGHTO
So of course Zvezda proves them right-o.
That it’s a sting is apparent
To all but the most ignorant
Sacrifices are made for successin’
Even Natasha is dressin’ (up)

The writing remains fairly decent
Keeping it the best of the season
Though sidelined, Asuta is fascinating
His self-importance not a bit grating
In fact his delusions of grandeur
Subtracts any lingering languor
Being in Zvezda seems to give him life
As he partakes in assisting their strife

Thanks to the middle school setting
Flat characters I’m no longer dreading
Though barely shown it adds dimension
Fleshing out Zvezda’s habit of dissension
They all seem to be of an age mental
Where they fight against all that’s parental
Ironic then that Asuta takes glee
By acting as adult authority

Once again, the show adds nothing new
To a formula old and true
But a two-parter shows ambition
And a drive to realize Kate’s vision
If it remains a story well-told
Developments made could be bold
That’s the worst I’ve treated English
But that should only be singular… ish.

And now that I’ve said all I can say
Back to playing more Kancolle

  1. Why are robots always the best characters!? Even QT is better than Dandy and Meow, heck Chamber also rocks those main leads

    1. Because hearing snide comments in relative deadpan is always amusing. Roboko trumps them all by just not giving a fuck, though.

  2. I laughed at how Goro was disguised as a statue for who knows how long.

I loved the improvised rhymes that you worked on too. They really made for a bunch of good chuckles! Keep up the good work. 🙂

  3. Dropped the hell out of this series at the smoking episode… But wow… Rhyming lies(es) with disguises is amazing. Respect…
