Now there’s a blog title you never thought you’d see.
This is sort of a general status update, because three things have popped up at once so I can’t really use my usual tactic of sticking them into the start of episodic posts.
First, I appeared on the Bakacast podcast a few days ago, except they’re lazy they haven’t finished the gigantic task of editing the podcast so haven’t put it up yet. In fact, I’ll be a regular on their podcast this year (or at least, they told me I would be) so have a listen if you want to hear my smexy Irish accent.
Secondly, this happens to be Movember, and I have happily joined in with growing myself a ridiculous looking moustache. You’re meant to raise money for prostate cancer by growing a moustache throughout the month of November, but I’ve been growing the moustache without the fund raising. At least I was, but halfway through the month, due to the unfortunate placing of certain scars on my upper lip from my days of getting kicked in the face playing football, I look like a sex offender. But instead of shaving it off in shame, I thought I’d keep it there and actually raise some money for charity. Problem is, I have no friends, so instead I’m trying to get some donations off my blog readers. It might be a mistake to try squeezing money from anime fans, but it’s worth a shot. If I raise at least $20 before the end of the month, I’ll post a picture of hideous looking facial hair (for reference, this is me without facial hair). Hopefully by then it will have grown into something commendable and won’t make me look like a sex offender.
::Edit:: The donations are closed. Want to see the resulting moustache?
>My final point of interest this year is the 12 Day of Christmas anime blogging project. The call to arms for this project used to be done by Canon-chan, but his blog is dead. However, from poking about on twitter a bit, there’s still a fair amount of interest with bloggers in doing it. For those who don’t know, the 12 Days of Christmas anime blogging thing is where anime bloggers recount 12 moments related to anime they watched this year that stood out to them. It doesn’t need to be something that aired this year. It doesn’t even need to be something you watched, so long as it’s something related to anime that happened to you this year. 12 posts, from the 14th to the 25th of December. I’ll be doing it, as I’ve done for the past 2 years, and I know a few others who will be doing it too. I feel a touch big headed assuming control of the project, which is why I’m instead sticking this note into the end of a post about moustaches.

I’ll be looking forward to the shmechsae Irish accent.
(Yes, comment is only for this word.)
Hmm, Donate button doesn’t seem to work. It just takes me to Paypal.
Should be working now
12 Days of Christmas, huh. I’ve always enjoyed those kind of posts.
Harder when you have to do it yourself. :x
Awesome news about joining Bakacast as temporary regular (now there’s an oxymoron if ever I heard one); they’re a great team and you seem to fit well with their style. Looking forward to it!
I sometimes do the whole ‘no-shave November’ thing, but as my facial hair only grows thick on my neck, I tend to look Amish by the end of the month. Still, moustaches are always worth a few bob for charity, plus in the end you can plan an 80’s wrestling themed fancy-dress night out with fellow participants: win/win!
Good thing about Movember is it’s really only about the moustache. I’ve shaved the horrificly itchy neck bead but kept the moustache
What’s wrong with looking Amish? Everyone knows that they are drop-dead sexy as hell.
I want that Snorlax to be my bro.
Donating solely for the promise of picture of ridiculous facial hair – we all know I’m dying of envy.
Oh Cara, keep that jealousy in check.
As for you Scamp, you could take a page out of Cara’s book and use more Irish slang in your vernacular. It’ll do ya good.
I don’t do Irish slang though. I’m a well spoken britsh person. The only way you’d know I’m irish is if you listened to my voice. ALL THE MORE REASON TO LISTEN TO THE PODCAST EH~!
Hilarious fact: my mother expressed shock over how Irish you sounded, and then laughed and said it was stupid to have been surprised by that.
I wanna try this 12 days of Christmas anime thing it looks interesting
The 12 days of Xmas thing has always seemed to me to be too unstructured. I feel it needs a few constraints, some kind of gimmick or something. I don’t know what that would entail though.
People tend to set their own constraints. I know Cara focused it down to just characters she liked
So are you replacing Karen on Bakacast, Scamp?
Actually, he’s replacing Karen AND Jon, since both of them have been forced to skip this season of Bakacast due to real life interfering.
I just finished editing the podcast, so it should go up sometime tomorr–er…today, I guess.
I forgot about no shave November. It doesn’t any difference since I’m too lazy to shave anyway.
I think I’ll try the 12 days of Christmas thing… Once I get around to making a blog.
I never knew about this. Why does this no-shave month have to be on my b-day month?
Tough we were going to do a keep ‘your moustache for the longest time’-game after my b-day this month with my roommates.
If I could grow a mo’ to raise money I would but, alas, I am a woman so I’ll just have to steal my parents’ card and donate money to ya’ when I get the chance, Scamp!
Damn you guys and your moustache growing powers
It’s almost cruel, huh, Leah-san?
It’s not as cool as it sounds. Normally it’s just itchy
I’m typing this as I listen to The World on NPR air a story about Movember. Here’s the accompanying article. http://www.theworld.org/2011/11/moustache-charity-movember/
Well, thank you for re-sharing your lovely presentation, mustache free and all :)
I’ve heard of this 12 Days of Christmas, so I think it’s great that you’re attempting to head the project. I’d love to do it, too, given that this is my first year of blogging and that would be a great way to finish out this year.
Twelve moments? Obviously every episode of Prince-sama… oh, wait. That’s thirteen. Dammit. This is a complete quandary, I’m afraid… guess I’m gonna skip it again this year!
Prince-sama was crap. But then again, I’m including moments from Rio Rainbow Gate so…
Yeah, you officially have no right to judge.
And Prince-sama was brilliant. Easily the show of the year.
Wasn’t sure how much you needed before you met your goal, but let’s just say we’ll definitely be seeing your mustache now. (But that doesn’t mean other people shouldn’t donate!)
