Passionate Men

A man who is passionate about his chosen profession. A man who can devote hours working to this very subject. A man who’s every waking minute is spent in deep thought on how to improve and embellish his work. This is a post to celebrate these men in anime for there is no man more powerful nor more capable at holding our emotions and capturing our hearts than a passionate man.

Ladd Russo

Passion: Killing

The world is full of stone cold killers, their faces lifeless as they assassinate their opposition with ruthless efficiency. After watching yet another person be cut down with unflinching resolve by these killers it starts to get boring after a while. These men have no passion in their profession. You want a man who truly revels in his homicidal tasks. You need a man who will dance in the blood of his victims. You want a man who enjoys talking and killing a lot. You want Ladd Russo

Alex Louis Armstrong

Passion: His Genes

It takes an extraordinary person to build up sufficient passion to enter this post of prestigious passionate men. Many people are left trying to cultivate their raw passion, which is great in its own way, and yet so inferior to those who may have gotten a head start. It’s the refined passion that has been distilled and perfected through the ages. A passion that has been passed down through the Armstrong family through generations. I’d be pretty darn proud of my genes if they produced a body as sparkly as Alex Louis Armstrong.

Masaru Hananakajima

Passion: His chosen martial art

To understand the passion of Masaru-san is a difficult one. He was already a exuberant man, yet he had no direction through which to flow his energy. His chose his martial art, the way of the Sexy Commando, simply because he picked up a magazine in the woods one day. And yet that magazine changed life. Now he had a meaning, a goal through which his near boundless energy could flow. The man has perfected the Sexy Commando to the point that he can make butterflies congregate at his crotch at will. That skill does not just come to any old person who practices the way of the Sexy Commando. Only to a truly passionate practitioner.

Jeremiah Gottwald

Passion: Loyalty

Season 1 Jeremiah was not a man filled with much in the way of passion. He was a stuck up aristocrat. Granted, he was a stuck up aristocrat with a giant robot, yet he had long since lost his reason he became a soldier in the first place. It was only when he was humiliated by Zero and went through intense ‘rehabilitation’ did he rediscover his passion. His loyalty to Queen Marianne and in turn to her son is unquestioned, unbridled and unrivaled. Some people call him Orange, I call him Passion Fruit.

Passion: Being Passionate

This was a tough one to define. It is clear to anyone that this post would not be complete without the man sculpted out of pure passion. However what is it exactly that he channels his passion into? Devotion towards Minami Haruka? Cooking? I do not believe it is either of these. It does not matter what task he attempts to achieve. There is nothing he believes more in than putting his full effort and devotion into everything in life. Hosaka is passionate about being passionate.

Jeremiah is my favorite character. 50% man, 50% machine, 200% MOTHERFUCKING LOYALTY!!!!

So by your logic Hosaka is passionate about putting his full effort it to anything he does…does that include stripping?

Oh man I really love posts like these.

And, of course, seeing Ladd Russo at the top of the list is a huge added bonus.

Wonderful job, Scamp! I applaud you!

I really like Hosaka’s passion in that weird way that sorta creeps you out but still hilarious all the same. While stripping. While in the middle of cooking a meal. A true man who can walk AND chew gum at the same time.

Being passionate, huh? Seems like something that wouldn’t really go anywhere. Now, Ladd’s passion for killing–that is something strong.

Jeremiah, the embodiment of a virtual anime characters need more often. Also – how to do character assassination the RIGHT way =9

So this is your top five huh? I’m a bit said Hughes didn’t make it in here for his unrivaled passion towards his family but… I can accept Alex made more of an impression.

    I’ve seen that demotivational too~

The man strips with sparkles. That doesn’t happen when you strip normally now, does it

Why thank you! I enjoy writing them myself although they’re more difficult than they may look. I think I understand why baka-raptor doesn’t update more often (asides from the eyes)

Strip cooking? Sounds like a goldmine for a new tv show

Passion not going anywhere? pfft, you are severly mistaken my liege. How do you think I came this far in my blogging life? Through sheer passion!

Oooh, I never thought of Hughes. Then again, I couldn’t put two FMA characters on there. I did want to put up the fat guy from Summer Wars and his passion for his heritage but I couldn’t even find out his name, let alone a decent picture of the guy

Hah, passion fruit. I like that.

This post is so HOSAKA. Period.

    @ Kairu

Now I must ask you, is there anything wrong with that? I say nay!

    I–PPO! I–PPO! I–PPO!

Though I suppose,if you’re smart, sports anime characters should not be allowed to compete. They wreck the curve.

I almost didn’t use that joke because I thought it might be too facedesk inducing

    I’m a terrible otaku and haven’t seen Ippo…

True about sports anime characters although strangely none of them made the list anyway. I thought about Tokuchi Toua from One Outs but he didn’t feel quite as passionate as these lot

Man with passion to kill is the hottest man of them all

Finally someone mentions the Great Hananakajima Masaru.
I’m ashamed because I didn’t knew about half of the list…

Hotter than a man with butterflies gathering around his crotch?

Woah, someone else who’s seen Sexy Commando? I’m shocked and delighted. Finally, someone who knows what I’m talking about when I say that I’m about to perform the Melancholy of Elise.

    Cleanup Princess~!

Oh the great Ladd Russo! There is no joy like the joy of killing…except for the jo of killing and talking at the same time! Haha…haha…haha and to even have his fiance be a person that he wants to kill. What devotion! And even at the very end, where he’s lost one arm…what a passion to kill. Where’s Huey going? Alcatraz. Where am I going? Alcatraz. Insert crazy Baccano music and see Ladd’s passionate grin!
