Ore no Imouto episode 12 (finale)

The final episode of Ore no Imouto. At least, it’s the end of the TV broadcast. I’m finally free of.…this…wonderful…fantastic anime. I can’t believe this is the last episode! We do get more Kirino and Kuroneko in the (hopefully uncensored) DVD episodes, but that’s going to be such a long wait. What will I do without my weekly dose of tsundere imouto loving? I’ll have to savour this last episode.

Of course Kyousuke is concerned about Kirino-chan. The entire series has been building up their loving relationship. I challenge anyone not to care for Kirino after all she’s gone through over the course of this series. I also challenge anyone not to blush as she waves that gorgeous backside in the air as she frequently does. Kyousuke has Kirino doing this for him on a daily basis, the lucky guy. Maybe this will be the strike that finally gets him to confess to her and we get to see more of that beautiful dere side the series has been carefully waiting to give us loyal fans.

Tsundere-ness runs in the family with the return of tsundaddy. Hearing Gendo Ikari saying “It’s not like I care or anything” is one of the greatest things in this series that isn’t a teenage girl, which unfortunately he has a lot to contest with. Now all this anime needed was an Ayanami Rei or Asuka Langly to make it that much better. I’ve only seen 2 episodes of Neon Genesis Evangelion but I think I’ve read enough doujinshi to get a grips on their characters and they’d clearly be right at home in this series. Evangelion would have been a lot better if they replaced giant robots with kawaii imoutos, I think we can all agree on that.

I know AIC are doing this on purpose. Shooting everything from Kyousuke’s point of view. It’s just like Kirino has asked me to come to her room. Not as good as shooting the bedroom-waking scene and neither is she wearing a meido outfit like the last episode, but I’ll take all the dere-Kirino I can get my hands on. Also would you look at that DFC! I wish I had an imouto like Kirino who would invite me to her room like this.

Oh god, pleading moe Kirino is HHHNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGG~

This is pretty cool. All this time there’s been another story of the exact same type going on with Kyousuke’s friend. He’s got a imouto who is also an otaku and bosses him around. Kinda like one of my favourite anime, Nagasarete Airantou, where the last episode revealed the main character’s imouto had ended up on an island with just men. Just like Nag Air though, it picked the right story to focus on. Why would I want to watch the girl on an island of guys when her brother was on an island full of hot girls? Same here, we got to focus on Kirino instead of that fujioshi. I definitely prefer Kirino because she’s one of us. She’s an otaku who likes kawaii eroge with imoutos and understands the value of keeping in the ero scenes because they preserve the story and, more importantly, give us plenty of caps for later use. Better yet, she’s one of us while also being a kawaii imouto herself. The genius of this anime~!

Sneaking into Kirino’s room in the dead of night while she makes sure her parents aren’t asleep so they can watch porn together. DAMNIT WHY DO ALL THE GREAT THINGS IN LIFE HAPPEN TO THE LEAD CHARACTERS OF MY FAVOURITE ANIME!!! I suppose that’s why they’re my favourite anime. Anime is escapism, to get away from the harsh world of women who are all sluts in real life and live in the pure world of the imouto.

Wait, 9 months? It’s been growing? Did they have sex all that time ago!?! Wait no, I’m probably overreacting. Of course they didn’t, Kirino isn’t the type of girl to go having sex willy nilly. She watches anime like Meruru and other magical girl shows so I’m sure she understands the importance of purity. That would destroy the whole image of the anime if she did something like that. What she does in doujinshi is a different matter fu fu fu~, but that’s not canon so it doesn’t matter. When you screw with the canon, you screw with the fans hearts. I know AIC wouldn’t do that to its fans.

My first thoughts upon watching this was that Kirino is going to strip for her brother and us fans! She must have something wrong with her body and she can only trust her brother to look at it. This is what Kyousuke has spent 9 months building up for, and this must be what the life-counselling was really for. I thought AIC were going to combine the greatest build up to a fanservice scene in with some classic Key-style bawww moments. Of course, nothing like that happened anyway. Yes, we got blushing Kirino and that’s always nice. But I went into a genuine panic when Kirino said she was going to America. You can’t split up brother and sister! That ruins the imouto appeal. She’s meant to always be there for you, no matter what happens to you in outside of the home. They were going to kill that by making her move away.

Hence I almost teared up at the final scene when she said she’s not leaving. It’s not exactly a pure incest end, but they get to stay together and we get to see plenty of Kirino’s dere side in the extra episodes. I’m guessing this new ending will be after this when the two really get together. It’s not the multiple end version that I thought it would be originally, which I’m glad isn’t the case as it would have destroyed the beauty of this final scene. This was melodrama done right.

Kuroneko dancing was soo cuuuute~! But even better, she’s been won over by the moe side! Kuroneko was always portrayed as the one going against the glorious imouto type anime, declaring it distasteful and making her sick. Doing the neko dance is not something regular Kuroneko would have ever done. But by showing us this, Ore no Imouto has said screw the haters, moe wins out in the end. Haters gonna hate, and always will hate on this genre because of their prudish and elitist and pretentious. If only those guys could give the genre a greater chance like Kuroneko did, they too would be won over. Moe fan Kirino wins out over pretentious fan Kuroneko. Moe is as strong as ever. It’s what the industry relies on because the fans keep buying it. I don’t see those pretentious fans buying their stuff, do I? It’s K-ON and Working and Haruhi and Bakemonogatari that top the sales charts. Moe is here to stay. All hail moe~!

If Kuroneko is your fav character, then you should be thankful there will be an alternative end to lead to a possible 2nd season. That’s when Kuroneko really starts to shine, abeit the trigger point being Kirino MIA in US of A. In anime without the same level of development, Kuroneko is just service (from the very start mind you, ‘won over? as if a shy goth loli char can be anything else. 8/10 for a troll review.

Non-LN readers has hyped up the final sentence of Vol 7, because they haven’t read the rest of Vol 7 which was all Kirino X Kyousuke. The cat-fight commences in Vol 8.

That Kuroneko bit was serious though. Her main purpose in the series was to provide an anti-Kirino point of view. By showing her turning to moe moe nyan nyan Kuroneko but never showing Kirino watching something with robots and Xantos Gambits, they’ve shown that the moe wins out in the end.

I love cute things. (Like Kuragehime. Or Otome Youkai Zakuro.)
    I hate moe. (Like THIS.)
I love seeing you so sarcastic. Or Tsundere, nyoro.

Why don’t you blog a show in Winter season that you know you will hate? Your Ore no Imouto posts were always fun to read. First, you were pleasantly suprised. Then you said, “nah, it’s moe, but it can be well written at times.”. Now… well you know.

Hey, there will be a Kuroneko end :D
Maybe this will involve killing Kirino and burning all her moe DVD’s! Wait, if Kuroneko is moe too, let’s kill her too :D *hums* Killin~ Kiririn~ and Neko~ Hmmmm~
With my lovely knife! Isn’t this right knifey? *stepford smile*
Dan Green’s/LK’s voice out of the knife: Yes! Let’s kill that brotherf*****! >:D
And then Kirino will be an angel who’s only joy is fucking, und together with GIR from Invader Zim and Kuroneko she’s working for a gay priest with a SM fetish :D

    …Right, knifey? :)

This was irony right? If it was, it was done right. That pseudo-drama with Kirino moving away was a big ****, when I saw Kuroneko dancing I was sure that this would be banned according to the new law by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government (the part about compelling suicide).
