My top 5 anime every year this century infographic

5 x 5I made this thing about a year ago for reasons that have since escaped me. I found it while scraping through my image folder and figured it was an awful waste to never post. So I updated it for 2013 and here you go. If you have any questions about which picture is what, go ahead and ask. If you can name every single one you get a cookie. As in you can go buy yourself a cookie and when I see you next I will give you the money for that cookie.

Not much else to say about it to be honest. One thing I did notice while making this is that anime isn’t really moving up or down in quality over the past 14 years when you look at the cream of the crop. 2000-1 aren’t great but since then it’s been basically the same.

Are they listed in order, such as the top being better bottom than the bottom or anything?

Also, the top series being great across years is properly unsurprising, the question is about percentages. An even better question is if percentages even matter, because most people don’t watch all shows, so just watch the better ones.

Yup, they’re listed in rough order of how much I like them. Top being the best.

the top ones seem consistent with the top 30 anime list of his

Yeah, I like how every year always has at least one anime that makes your top 30 or 50 or whatever. And not just in regards to Scamp, but most other anibloggers as well, including me.

@Micchi You don’t know Full Metal Panic?

Darn, so close to a cookie. Just missing the middle three of 2000 and the second one of 2002.

Full Metal Panic is the 2nd one of 2002. No clue what the 2000 ones are.

Ah! That’s the one. It’s been a looooong time since I saw it, and tbh it looks horribly generic at first glance. Should’ve figured it was FMP, though, given Scamp’s thing for it.

Middle three of 2000 are (from top to bottom) Vampire D: Bloodlust, Banner of the Stars, and Blood: The Last Vampire. Scamp likes those vampire things, and yet does not recognize Shiki, because he is terrible.

Top starting from year 2009 makes me a little sad. I think that was the last year i cared with few rare exceptions. And tokyo godfathers made me redownload paranoia agent. It’s too long i’ve seen it. Also, whats the name of 1st one in 2008? I almost remember everything that happened there, but not the name. I would like to rewatch this one too :)

Couldn’t care less about Madoka crap. As Jojos goes, well….i somehow like their manga but in general they are to fabulous for me :) Fist of the north star is another story. Liked it much much better than jojo. Go figure.

        P.S. varyn, thanks.

Apparently I need to see Girls und Panzer and Daily Lives of Highschool Boys if they’re higher up than nisemonogatari, yamato 2199 and shinsekai yori in 2012.

Seen about 70% of the list, barely recognised any of the early 2000s ones, I guess they’re a bit before my time.

Yes indeed they are. Especially Daily Lives of Highschool Boys, that in many ways restored a love of anime in me

    Since we’re playing that game…
I actually recognize more than 60 of these, and can immediately name most of them, but I’ve only seen a measily 22 in total.

If this was a bingo chart, I would get nothing.

Great list. I see 14 there that I really need to see some day.
    I can’t identify #4 of ’01, #5 of ’02, #3 of ’07, #4 of ’10, and #4 of’11.

While I recognize a lot of stuff on here, I still haven’t seen quite a few of them. I am ashamed of myself. Also, just because I saw the anime up there, you planning on covering Durarara 2 when it comes out? I missed your posts when they came out by a couple years but still enjoyed reading them as I watched the show last year.

Only watched 28 series in that list, but recognize most of them (missed out 2 shows, no.5 of 2010 (Kuragehime?) and no.5 of 2002 which I know but forget the title).

And damn, I really need to watch that Gankutsuoh. Anybody know where I can download it? (60MB-ish preferably)

    Watched: 53/70 (I dropped 3)
    Recognized: 66/70

It warms my heart to see shows like Dennou Coil, Kaiba, Noein, Kino’s Journey and Haibane Renmei haven’t been totally forgotten.

2000 and 2001 might be weaker then the other years but I wouldn’t mind seeing another FLCL or Millenium Actress.
