Kill la Kill episode 23 – The final boss wait no this is the final boss

Kill la Kill - 23 - Large 09Kill la Kill has always had a bit of a problem making each battle feel more dramatic than the last. However this time they had a truly dramatic looking final boss. The single original alien that came down to earth. A dramatic awe inspiring cannon looking thing that floated through the sky, threatening to destroy civilisation. With the worst mother in the world riding on board. Truly something you could call an awe-inspiring final bos-

What’s that? They killed it and instantly replaced it with the worst mother in the world wearing a silly outfit? Damnit Kill la Kill!

My favourite part of this episode was Mako NO WAY SCAMP YOU LIKED THE SCENES WITH MAKO THE MOST PINCH ME I’M DREAMING. But really, the reason why I loved them in this episode specifically was because it was her time to shine. We gave you 22 episodes of Mako’s only power being the powah of lurve, which is still a pretty awesome power as you can tell by all the songs made about it. But now we get her moment where she actually gets to kick some ass and it is so fulfilling. Even if her moment of actual glory came from her running in an oversized hamster wheel. On that note, isn’t it just great that the powering mechanism for nudist beach is giant hamster wheels. I’m trying to think of a powering mechanism that comes from being naked but all I can think of are dick windmills and that’s not even the first time I’ve said “all I can think of are dick windmills”.

Where was I before I started thinking about spinning penises…I can’t remember, I’ll just assume I was talking about Mako being amazing since that’s what I’m usually talking about. Mako Mako Mako Mako Mako, do you think we’ll see her get together with Gamagoori in the final episode? I don’t feel like this is the kind of show to ever hold anything back that fans might want. Hence why yes, I can totally see Gamagoori and Mako hooking up somehow. On the other hand, what would be absolutely amazing for Kill la Kill to do is go full Gainax end and have a completely incomprehensible ending that is weirdly grimdark and kills the important characters while resolving nothing. That’s not really Imaishi’s style. Panty and Stocking’s ending was a deliberate piss take on the Gainax end. But I would love to see it happen just for the pure WTF-ness. I am so uninvested in anything storywise that pulling a stunt like that right at the end would be perfect for me.

Kill la Kill - 23 - Large 41A special word, by the way, for the two seamstresses in this show. Both on the worst mother’s side and Satsuki’s side. I get the feeling the writers have a soft spot for both of them, given that neither of them started off as important characters but have been increasingly getting more and more screentime. They’re both getting moments of awesomeness as the show hits its ending. OK one of those awesome moments was to be absorbed into the worst mother’s chest, but if there’s ever a way to die it would be to be absorbed into Evil Lady Gaga’s Bosoms.

The last episode actually just skips the final boss altogether and it’s just an entire episode dedicated to Mako and Gamagoori’s first date.

Poor Gamagoori. He would have to work 3 jobs just to be able to afford to take Mako out to dinner. That girl can eat.

And if anyone else is keeping score like me, Scamp tied his previous record of using Mako’s name ten times in this post.

Ragyou gets TeamRocketed in the first five seconds, complete with sparkles and stuff, then we go on to have our romcom hijinks between Mako and Gamagoori, Nonon and Sanageyama, Nui and Inumuta, and Ryuko and Satsuki. Seems legit.

Lori isn’t a seamstRESS because he is male (or at least should be). Speaking of which, his Doctor Octopus/Spawn mix goku uniform is great.

On a very unrelated note, your mention of tatami galaxy in the season preview thread made me curious enough to check it again. It would seem I mistook it for the house of 4-5 leaves the first time, I wouldn’t have seen this great series if not for you, thanks again scamp!

Now on a related note, why didn’t ragyo give nui arms when she was tailoring? Wouldn’t have it made more sense for her to have arms while sewing something rather than giving it to her after finishing that costume?

As the worst mother ever Ragyo can’t be bothered to lend a hand or two.

Unless lending her hands really means continuing to molest her daughters. Ragyo is really good at that.

well, to be fair, it seemed that at the time ragyo did have her hands tied up with her 2 daughters, not to mention the trouble they caused when they took down the mothership, which must’ve cost revocs and arm and a leg to set up.

but in the end, looks like the 2 daughters did play right into ragyo’s hands when they thought they finally took down the big boss, turns out it was a sleight of hand of sorts since ragyo turned out to be the final boss.

I knew it by the name “Oji the section chief” and I already re-watched it back in 2012.

seeing that your yearly top 5 anime included spice and wolf, I think i’ll try that one next.

Someone I was talking to brought up the idea that the Senketsu would transform in to a human like that mole did in Gurren Lagann. That would be interesting. I wonder what his fate will be after they take down the clothes once and for all. Will everyone continue to be naked after this?

Mako is revealed to be the real villain behind the events and plunges the world into eternal darkness since Ragyo is out of the way… Or she would, had Gamagoori’s first victim (the uniform thief) in episode one not come out of nowhere and set off a bomb he planted in her when no one was looking. Gamagoori then commits seppuku. The rest of the cast could not handle the stupid plot twist and simultaneously seppuku themselves afterwards.

The credits then play, with Imaishi’s smiling face flashing different colors with this song playing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hmDZz5pDOQ

Everyone but Mako and Gamagoori die, then Mako and Gamagoori have to get busy repopulating the earth.

You guessed it half right. One of the two doesn’t die! And no one kills Ragyo! But another character does die! The end titles show a new look for Satsuki, which reminds me of Hitagi Senjogahara.
