Just taking a moment to step back from anime and say FUCK YEAH WORLD CUP!

YouTube Preview Image

I am a man of few hobbies. I eat and exercise enough to remain healthy. I socialise enough to keep a social life in some state of existence (being a university student, this is rarely done without the presence of alcohol. I’m rarely drinking the alcohol myself. But it’s always there regardless). I work on my degree, spend time fruitlessly searching for some sort of employment. I spend on average 10 minutes per day on some sort of computer game (sadly, nowadays this seems to be mainly made up of Tower Defence games. Those things should be banned, they’re too fucking addictive). Otherwise I spend my time watching and discussing anime at an alarming rate. The only other thing in life I appear to give a shit about is football. And the greatest footballing event is about to begin. The mother fucking world cup bitches!

I love the world cup. The heroes and villains, the drama and the epic games. I’m dying to see North Korea getting humiliated by Brazil. I love watching thousands of overweight American fans leaping around yelling ‘OOO ESS AYE’. I can’t wait to see the entire of Ireland cheer in delight as Henry gets blown up for a handball. I’d love to see the irony of Matterazi going down after a clash of heads. The prospect of the Dutch team imploding and fighting amongst themselves yet again is exhilarating. Seeing Messi in action on the world stage. Watching history in the making. A legend being solidified for all eternity. I love football, but most of all, I love the world cup. Expect references to the latest games cropping up in my posts. I might even toss in a world cup watch at the end of every post so my ramblings don’t impact the actual anime discussion.

How are the chances of England getting through to the final?…

All right I guess. I can’t see them winning it but a semi-final isn’t beyond them. It’s just most of their star players are coming back from injury or getting injured.

I can actually see England losing to Serbia in the 2nd round. In my own predictions I had them going out to Uruguay in the quarterfinals.

Nah, something is pulling me back from backing Serbia or Uruguay. I bet someone other than Uruguay will get through that group.

The World Cup is the most awesome event ever. Even people who don’t like soccer can admit that the World Cup is awesome. I’ve been off the walls for the past month. TWO DAYS TILL USA PLAYS ENGLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

holy crap, that video was the most epic thing i’ve ever seen. HELL YEAH.

okay, so i’m super retarded and uninformed when it comes to sports. all sports. including soccer. sorry, i don’t know anyone’s names or stats or whatever. BUT I FREAKING LOVE THE WOLRD CUP.

i’ve heard before that countries STOP WARS for the world cup. dayum. now if that isn’t something to lose your head and get excited over, i dont know what is.

i’m just sad that most people in the U.S are still HURRR DURRR AMERICAN FOOTBALL OMG BASEBALL. i’ll let basketball go since i do kinda like basketball a little. but the others? bah. nowhere NEAR as exciting as this. but what can i say, we still dont have the metric system like everyone else and are offies in general. i suppose someday we’ll finally get on the bandwagon. someday.

From seconf half information I’ve got, the US is getting more into football/soccer with every year. A good team and satelight television have almost certainly helped with that.

i think it’s because the U.S is slowly being populated by more and more immigrants, lol. the only other people i know who watch the world cup are those who are immigrants or who’s parents are immigrants.

i sadly don’t have cable right now to check, but last world cup none of the matches aired on basic cable, hell, even extended cable. no wait, i lied, it aired on the spanish channel (where i watched it). hopefully this year access is easier.

Man, if the US doesn’t allow more than 2 goals against England, call me a happy camper. Maybe that’ll happen if we pay John Terry to sleep around with a few more teammates’ girlfriends.. not that he needs the encouragement.
