But.. it doesn’t confirm he’s the cart driver.

True but if he is alive (and they aren’t just trolling by saying “well yes we said he is in it an as the original version, we didn’t say he only was in endless flashbacks.”) then it becomes likely. Of course he could be alive and just be elsewhere at that point.

No but it does mean the theory is back on!

I hope it opens on the cart scene, except this time we get to see his face XD

That would be pretty amazing. It’s the exact same except you see his eye glance up and the geass symbol flashes

    Holy fuck

    I think I’m crying a little

I mean, I’m a little sad too, and anxious- so much for our poetic ending, and will they screw it up like DRRR x2?- but at the same time…

It’s like you’re an anime oracle. I do worry how Taniguchi would build up on S2 with his recent work being Active Raid though.

      Posted November 28, 2016 at 9:42 pm | Permalink

I will do my best to dispel those fears, because:

      a) Taniguchi always said Active Raid wouldn’t be anything like his previous works. It was meant to be a silly, relaxing distraction for people who aren’t very serious and like Tokusatsu/Super Sentai series, in particular Metal Hero shows and Akibaranger. A lot of western viewers find that sort of material to be boring, but the show was better received in Japan.

      b) That show was made by Production IMS, not Sunrise. Even in terms of production values, there will be nothing similar.

      c) Taniguchi is coming back, after almost a decade, to a property he’s already experienced with. Obviously his goals and methods for a new Code Geass are going to be different.

I also hope enough time away from Geass allows him to tackle it with a fresh perspective. The depressing part would be if he returned to it only because it was successful and his recent projects haven’t been. Sorry Goro, for what it’s worth I really like Maria the Virgin Witch

I don’t like Code Geass at all, but this is huge news. I know that Code Geass is one of those anime that everyone should see even if they don’t like it, but I just can’t stand it. I’m sorry. Still, I’m happy for you and for all the Code Geass fans.

That film trilogy recap thing sounds really good. Maybe now I can watch those films so that I don’t have to waste my time by watching the whole anime.

Now can I get my Haruhi season 3? Or Genshiken Nidaime season 2? Or Nozaki-kun season 2? I could easily name at least 30 anime that I REALLY want to get a sequel.

  13. Posted November 29, 2016 at 1:42 am | Permalink

The anime gods saw us praying for more Spice and Wolf so they decided to troll us by sending a sequel to a completed story.

Amen to that! Would love me some Spice & Wolf!

But this can work… Let’s say some combo of Geass mechanics allows Lelouch (and CC because she is awesome) to both have immortality.

This reboot can be about Lelouch taking over the entire universe.

Seriously though… I am really skeptical about this. It ended oh so well. What are they supposed to do now? Lelouch screwed over everyone that he could possibly screw over. Over-the-top drama was taken over the top in the only way that it could be entertaining to me, and it was immensely entertaining.

I have another idea. This could be the Knights of Sidonia prequel showing the battle where the earth was lost to the Gauna!

No it confirms he’s in the bag and resurrected frankenstein style. Obviously.

Unless the Administrators rezzed him for more conflict.

Oh yeah I stopped reading your blog back then but this announcement made me come back. HEY BLOG THAT SHIT I’M TELLING YOU. IT HAS TO BE HERE AND NOT TO THAT MAL WHATEVER YOU SOLD YOUR SOUL TO

Apparently, you did not notice that there is almost no overlap between the type of articles he writes over there and those here on this blog. All episodics were always here.

“sold your soul” Seriously? Grow up. Also, I doubt Scamp is now independently wealthy from MAL articles. Geez…

It is Lelouch of the *Resurrection”, which means he could’ve died but will be brought back by the Geass equivalent to the Dragon Balls.

In which case, RIP to your headcanon

Have really mixed feelings about this, but to quote Lelouch, “the only path is forward”.

I want to go all out and get hype but I can’t help but be terrified of what might happen with this. Geass is my favourite anime. I’ve probably watched it around 10 times now (at least 4 times was to show other people). I dunno, I’m just not sure having Lelouch alive and in a direct sequel would be a good thing, or if it can be justified. If that happens, then it feels like the original ending and its narrative’s thematic significance would come off as less genuine.
