I wonder if the Chimera Ant King’s diet is similar to the human diet in that he’ll go out of shape if he snacks on gross, fatty humans all the time. Would they add to his power in any significant way if he ate enough of them? Or would he become a weak, rotund king were he to never eat any Nen users? We’ll never find out, since the King’s palate is so sensitive that he’ll eat nothing but the rarest, most delicious humans, and that’s that. We didn’t even see if that guard dude had a specific Nen power before Meruem kills him and all the other guards. What a jerk! Rough end for that dude, by the way: He spends what was probably not an insignificant amount of time protecting not!Kim Jong-il only to die in a few seconds. What a life.
And this meat plantation … I wonder what kind of operation it will be. Probably clean as a whistle, as secretive as can be, but I would enjoy a super industrial environment, with smokestacks reaching to the sky, and an assembly line with the Royal Guard slicing and mashing Nen users into delectable treats for the King’s consumption. Maybe he can even recline on a bed and the Royal Guard can feed them to him like chocolate-covered strawberries. Wouldn’t that be delightful? Perhaps it’s just me who thinks that.
But enough about that morbid business — IT’S DATE TIME~
Gon is such a ladykiller, but he’s genius in another way, too, because he has stumbled on the perfect way to keep Killua around even though he doesn’t know that Killua plans to leave. What is it? Massive jealousy! Killua wants to be friends with Gon forever. In his mind, he is even discarding the possibility of relationships with the ladies so that he can be best buds with Gon for life. Killua can leave Gon if he knows Gon is strong enough to stand on his own … but someone else shoehorning her way into Gon’s life? UNACCEPTABLE. The one saving grace is that Gon probably inherited the gene from Ging that won’t allow him to settle down with anyone. Can you imagine Palm dutifully waiting for Gon at home while he’s off riding a dinosaur that’s driving a tank or something? Get out while you still can, Palm!! That is, unless she is some crazy adventurer, too, which means that she must battle Killua for the right to be Gon’s adventuring buddy.
(An amusing detail: I didn’t notice at first, because of course I didn’t know that Palm would completely change how she looks, but while searching for screenshots, I saw Palm standing around at the start of this scene. I wonder how long she stood there before she got the courage to greet Gon? lololol And then he plays it off so naturally afterward. What kinds of things did the women who came to Whale Island teach Gon? Such an adult …)
But Killua won’t have time to worry about that what with his battle with Rammot. I’m really interested to see if he’s developed any specific Nen power or if he’ll just get by on brute strength since he’s an Enhancer. We’ll see! I can’t imagine it will be anything too complicated since Rammot is kind of a dumb brute, and this is definitely a test of Killua’s resolve in the story. Will he be able to control his desire to flee the fight and stay alive? We shall see! There’s also the bit about Kite in this episode … how much control does Neferpitou still wield over Kite? He didn’t look particularly cognizant when we saw him last week.
