Hetalia World Series episode 4

Before I get down to this Hetalia post today, I need to ask you guys to vote for me in the Aniblog Tourney because I’m currently losing by 3 votes! Hopefully my loyal Hetalia fans (and those not-so-loyal and have only appeared on the blog for this specific episode while searching for a streaming site to watch Hetalia on) will be enough to swing the vote in my favour. If I win I shall continue to blog Hetalia no matter how many seasons it airs! Actually I’d continue to blog Hetalia even if I lost but vote for me anyway!

Hurrah for Hetalia being funny again! It’s such a hit-or-miss series that when the funny episodes do come along they feel all the sweeter. I’ve actually been to see the Mona Lisa on a school tour we had to Paris (no, I did not go to a posh fancy school. That was the one time we went abroad for a tour. Well, we did go to Northern Ireland once as well but that doesn’t count). As anyone else who has seen the Mona Lisa will tell you, it’s rather unimpressive in the flesh canvas. It’s popularity is more viral than because of its actual quality. Oh, and because it was Leonardo Da Vinci who painted it. Da Vinci, if you must know, is my favourite historical figure of all time. A lot of it can be explained in this article but a large reason of it is because my favourite Pizza place when I was a kid was called Da Vincis.

Ah Poland, it’s only your second appearance and you’ve excelled both times. The more fabulous a character is, the more I like him (ever wondered why this blog is named after Lelouch~) and Poland is almost but not quite as fabulous as France. France is fabulous because he has the history of being fabulous for generations so that’s a hard act to live up to but getting mentioned in the same sentence as France is quite the achievement for Poland. I love how Poland hears of the dangers coming his way, panics for all of five seconds and then returns to chewing the European equivalent of Pocky.

OK, so after the ending song Chibitalia appeared and I was ready for the usual reaction of clicking the X and saying no more about its existence because I’m sure you lot are sick of hearing me bitch about it. But then I saw France appear and I paused in my exiting motion. France is the best character in the series so I had to see what he would do. And he basically bullied Chibitalia. Even better, it gave this episode a nice rounded feel by showing that France has always bullied Italy from painting ownership rights to wars. And I left thinking “hey, maybe Chibitalia isn’t so bad after all“.

That was then followed by a scene of HRE doing Chibitalia up the ass and all was back to normal once again.

    After three boring episodes to start the season, I was glad to see a good one here. :p

    More of Poland, and less slow-talker Greece (although admittedly he did have a couple of funny lines in the last episode where he grew increasingly weird and kept freaking out Japan).

    Wow my vote makes it 117 -116 . Plzz keep the hetalia coming.

    And another vote for you! 118-116.

    I really do like the strip where Italy bother France about art… I’d forgotten it existed until this and it made me happy. There are just too many strips to remember them all so it’s always a pleasant surprise when one you’d forgotten is animated.

    Voted for you. I’m actually from the anon meme, but I’ve been reading your recaps for a while now and the Chibitalia-hate keeps me coming back. I really want to just drop kick that fucking moe blob.

    You know, this was one of the most fun posts to write I’ve ever had. I think it’s because after all the work setting up that blasted tourney, going back to proper blogging feels so much better

    Ah now, the first episode was funny before Greece came on the scene and….started talking like….the kid….in the wheelchair….from Malcolm….in the Middle

    Keep dem votes coming!

    Maybe that’s why Deen does them out of order. So manga fans feel pleasently surprised when their favourite strips come up

    Oooh, imagine if I was able to harness the power of the anon meme to vote for me~! Actually that would probably backfire and result in more votes against me

    Surprised people come here for the Chibitalia hate. I thought that had gotten old by now

    I can’t quite figure out Poland’s game… he’s almost like a stereotypical California surfer dude, laid back to the point of not noticing the world is ending ;) – he’s funny though, anyway.

    As for Euro countries plundering other countries’ art… it would be hard to beat Igirisu for that! Think of 90 percent of what’s in the British Museum for starters. =D

    .. Did anyone else notice that the soldiers pointing their guns at Chibitalia… one of them looks exactly liek Germany? LOL RECYCLED CHARACTER DESIGNS

    I voted, and you’re currently winning by 12 votes.
    It seems your hetalia fans came through for you afterall?
    Shieldtalia has to be one of the only times I’ve found chibitalia funny,
    ‘Twas a good episode after those forgettable Greece/Japan ones.

    lol for the SHIELDtalia, what’s wrong with the crossed banner, haha.
    guess hetalia’s humor gone better than the first and the second season.

    and about the snack Polland eats, is it really pocky?
    i’ll vote for you, cheer up :)

    Haha, read in the hetalia comm discussion that Italy couldn’t quite forgive France for seducing Da Vinci. XD

    @Jan Suzukawa

    European countries are in a constant state of plunderisation. There’s more french stuff in the Italian museums and visa versa

    Imagine the combo of them though! Bismark would totally take advantage of Da Vinci’s awesome creative abilites to take over the world

    @Scheniziel Lackward

    It’s that cheese stick thing that’s always on sale in Aldi and Lidl. They’re really nice actually

    France also seduced Picasso. France just has a thing for seducing artists
