I’d be the first to admit I’m a bit of an Internet n00b at times so I only just figured out how to work Google Reader but damn, now I’ve got it working it’s so handy! While there may be some sites, like ANN, that I prefer to visit the actual homepage for, it’s so useful for blogs I like to read. So if you’re one of those people who seem to like reading my weekly blabbering about Hetalia (because it seems like there’s a fair few of you) then add us to Google reader. You have my personal recommendation.
This episode did what probably should have been done about 5 episodes ago: Introduce the Allied forces. Which made me wonder ‘Are these episodes being shown out of order?’. Is this the way the manga goes anyway, or is this an odd idea by Studio Deen? Or is it just bad planning? Either way Hetalia keeps up it’s recent good form with this episode. Even though there was no Italy or Germany, the Allied forces showed they can be just as funny.
The best thing about the Allies is the America/England combo. They play off each other so well, with England being slightly grumpy at everything it can be grumpy at while America makes those grand announcements about how great it is. The map gag had me laughing quite loudly indeed. And don’t forget France. He’s pretty damn funny too, great foil to the USA/England combo and shows that England and America will unite when facing France (aka: Italy #2). Seriously, apparently France actually wore that bright blue and red uniform in WWII.
But by now I’ve lost all patience with Chibitalia. It’s started shipping characters and stopped being cute by now. All it serves now it to turn away from the main story and bore the crap out of anyone watching it. Sure chibi Italy is cute but there’s only so much cuteness you can take before you start looking for something else. Like maybe making me laugh. I think I’ve only laughed once during chibitalia and that was when Italy was being beaten up. Less Chibitalia please
When the ending song started playing I started thinking ‘hey! Why did Russia do nothing?’ Because the guy seems to be the fangirls favorite from what I’ve read so far. But he did nothing except be slightly soft spoken. Cue France to start a nice conversation with him. It was all happy and France being nice to Russia because his country is so bloody cold and stuff. So I was wondering ‘why is this guy so popular?’
Ah, I see now. Can’t wait for more of this guy :)
