Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat the hell was all that?
Watching anime where you are in a constant state of confusion is hardly a new thing. Feeling your brain slowly melt out your ears as you try to follow the plot is far from being an unenjoyable experience. But when it comes in episode 16 of an anime that’s never had an episodic like it before it can really throw your mind in disarray. It was just so different in tone and direction that it totally threw me. It felt like an episode of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, which is not a bad thing by any means. It’s just GITS requires utmost concentration when watching to follow what’s going on. My mind tends to wander in an episode of DRRR, such as what would Celty look like in a cheerleader outfit and other such important philosophical questions. Not only that but the horror-esque zombie movie scenes also threw me totally off balance. It was a tense episode to say the least. It was also an enjoyable episode but in a far different way to previous Durarara episodes. What I’m trying to say is: I didn’t fully understand all that went on.
Hence I’m kinda at a loss what to say about this episode. No, actually it’s more than that. I don’t want to say anything about this episode (although I’ve already written 230 words but eh~, that was mainly GITS rambling). And most of all I don’t want to read what anyone thought of the episode either. I have some idea as to what went on regarding Saika and there were parts I understood fully, but I’d like to wait another episode before anything else. My biggest question of the episode is why Shizuo? Again, I have some vague theories as to why it’s him but I want to wait another episode.
So yeah, dull post is dull, so instead fangirls can revel in the fact that because the possibility of IzayaXShizuo was mentioned in the anime itself means that they are now canon, even if every other character dismissed the idea (except Shinra strangely enough). It’s strange to think that with all the yaoi fanart that exists of the two, this is only time since episode 3 that the two have had anything even remotely resembling a conversation. It did highlight the fact that Izaya might just be tormenting Shizuo because he genuinely sees him as a rival.
Ever since I wrote this post I’ve just had a thing for genderswapped pictures.
