Day with The Cart Driver Season 3 Episode 1 – Tired of being cold this anime winter

Youjo Senki - 03 - Large 05 (1)Basically everything I post this month will include a Tanya face at the top.

Welcome back to A Day with The Cart Driver anime podcast, where two married weebs bicker about anime. Myself and Day from GAR GAR Stegosaurus are back with season 3, because it’s been a long enough break since the last episode that introducing a new season feels in order. This time we’ll be talking about the winter anime season, where we spend a significant chunk of it talking around Tanya the Evil before we can finally take no more.

You can download the podcast below, subscribe to us on itunes here, subscribe via whatever other feed reader you have here, or simply listen to it on the website. Timestamps below the jump.

0:00 – 12:20 – Worst anime! Spiritpact, Eldlive, Chain Chronicle, Idol Memories, and why MAL average scores are dropping dramatically
12:20 – 20:35 – More bad anime with Fuuka’s pantyshots, Seiren’s butt sweat, and less not so good anime like Onihei and Demi-chan
20:35 – Dragon Maid’s story about immigrants, Masamune-kun being stupid, whether we like Acca or not and we remember Ali Project and terrible school uniforms
35:18 – 49:00 Anime we really like now! Wanting to show Little Witch Academia to everyone and returning to Rakugo and do we still like it as much
49:00 – End – TANYA DIE EVIL!!!!

Please denote in the title that your post is an audio podcast if possible. It is inconvenient to check in my reader.

When I first heard there was going to be a show called Tanya the Evil, I thought it was going to be a prequel to Yuri on Ice about the infamous ice skater Tanya Harding. WOW! Only anime would have the balls to do a show like Tanya the Evil.

It’s strange that my two favorite shows so far this season are Little Witch Academia and Tanya the Evil. The lead characters in both shows are so polar opposite, but I love then both.

Realy, as anti-heroes go, is Tanya more evil than Revi (from Black Lagoon)?

I’ll admit I’m somewhat… hmm, not convinced that Tanya’s quite up to the evil level (yet). She’s incredibly selfish and petty, but wanting to keep one’s own ass safe, even to the detriment of others, while not admirable, doesn’t strike me as evil. Perhaps amoral is the better way of putting it? Because to her, an act’s morality depends entirely on whether it keeps her safe.

Seems Nick at ANN has turned around on Tanya.

I’ll have to check out what he’s saying – I seemed to recall that Zac had been super, super negative about it along “moral” lines, and I’ll admit I don’t quite recall what Nick had said about it.

Nick’s initial ANN review was as negative, but then he tweeted that he saw & enjoyed episodes 2 & 3 (because X gets to bully Tanya, I think.)

“Lady in a suit” I am into that too.

In Little Witch Academia I find the MC slightly annoying at least at the beginning. But otherwise it is good.

In tanya the first episode didn’t grab my interest but with the introduction of the internal dialogue and the meddling god it got interesting. I still can’t stand the design of the second female character though.

Lady in a suit is always an A+++++++++++++ aesthetic, and it is honestly probably the only reason I finished the Darker than Black sequel.

OH no, you made me curious about youjo senki. I didnt watch it because it looked like nazi stuff… but now I guess Im gonna have to give it a chance.

I do think it’s worth giving a shot, and the first two episodes are now both streaming for free with commercials on CR, which makes it easy to give them a go.

Demi-chan feels like a harem anime in denial.

I can’t tell if you were joking about rewatching Chaos;Head by accident, but the first ep of Chaos;Child is basically a recap of that show. I was confused for a bit as well.

I ended up dropping Chaos;Head, but Chaos;Child seems ok after a few episodes, so might be worth checking out?
