Day with The Cart Driver Season 2 Episode 0 – Inferno Cop advice column

luluco_e11a-noscale

Season 2! Thanks to the big break since the last episode, I’m totally making this a second season.

Yeah the weeb married couple podcast is back where myself and Day from Gar Gar Stegosaurus argue about anime. We basically talk all about what we watched over the spring season, what we liked, what we didn’t like, and what had Inferno Cop in it. I’ll put timestamps in for each show so you can avoid spoilers where possible.

You can download the podcast or simply listen to it on the website below.

The third reference episode in Luluco was from the Trigger 5-minute short Sex and Violence With Machspeed, from the Japan Animator Expo. The Expo itself is a project where Hideaki Anno took a mix of new and veteran directors and asked them to submit anything they liked, so long as it was under 10 minutes long. The whole thing reminds me a bit of Anime Mirai, and it’s definitely worth a shot (although some of the episodes are crap).

Yeah, I found out the existence of that thing by means of the Luluco reference and it was… something. Definitely far more offensive than what was shown in Luluco, in fact even more raunchy than Panty and Stocking, and boy was that raunchy. Weird thing and definitely Luluco’s bottom point. At least the KlK and LWA episodes were decently fun, if completely out of left field. Anyway the ending compensated for that and picked up spectacularly.

I liked the character interactions in Kisnaiver, but I never really expected anything from the overarching story.

I never listened to your podcasts before. That was fun. It gave me closure for the unfinished episodic on kabaneri. I don’t mean that as a left-handed compliment either. It was fun listening to your commentary on the last half.

I agree that the Kabaneri Ninja-Zombie-Loli’s (sorry… not good at remembering names) really dramatic and awkward declarations, like about the dog, are pretty good characterization though maybe not on purpose. There is a type of both socially awkward and rebellious teenager that says offensive, inappropriate things in a really misguided and ineffective effort at differentiating oneself, and at the same time, get some needed attention.

I seriously think you should write a top 10 cut-off arms article for MAL.

Thank you both for these podcasts. I appreciate it.

As for the spring season, I wasn’t fond of much. Kiznaiver lost me with the melodrama. Luluco was a bit too breakneck but I laughed a bit. Kabaneri got silly. I liked it in the beginning and the last episode was entertaining.

This season I’m only watching 91 Days. I’m digging the atmosphere. I’m also looking forward to Kimi no Na Wa (Your name.) by Shinkai when that pops up. Mainly, it’s a good time to enjoy my backlogs. Frankly, I’ve been enjoying myself more by doing so.

Hello Scamp, So I started to write a long, blabby post here… Somehow I erased it. Okay… Agreed… Active Raid lacks something in the grab-your-attention department, but please do watch the first episode of the second season. Put a pint or two in you before preferably. It is defo some kind of strange animated political propaganda. Kind of fascinating to see in an academic way… Just half way through the episode so I can’t tell if it wants to say “Hitler was awesome” or “make love not war” (or something in between).

I hope you were not talking about Active Raid after the first couple of phrases since that has no more “propaganda” value or intent than any random Power Rangers or Metal Hero show EVER would. They have done absolutely nothing of the sort and it seems both silly and questionable to hold that opinion. Maybe you would need to be drunk to get that impression? I dunno.

As reasonable as you try to sound, my post is 7 or 8 lines. Somewhere in this small amount of text, I mention “halfway through the episode.” That is beyond a couple of phrases. I certainly have no grand attachment to my conclusion. All you had to do to begin to change my mind mind was engage in some form of dialogue. In terms of your current mode of communication, I can only say… Dammit! I don’t have a good line. And look… 3 comments on one post… And I was rarely posting here before despite my profound love of this blog! This is my way of morning what may very well be the end of the only anime blog I will probably ever read. Scamp!!! If this is the end, then I say without the slightest judgement, thank you!!! (although time lost because of watching anime, BECAUSE OF YOUR BLOG WHEN I HAD HAD NO PREVIOUS INTEREST IN IT, indicates I should curse you!!!!!!)
