Celebrating 2000 comments: Flamers, followers, Israeli Gundam builders and more

Bokutachi no Blog reached a rather impressive milestone recently, with Executive Otaku nicking the 2000th comment on the blog. And if there is one thing bloggers love more than anything else, it’s comments. Even if it’s just a silly one-liner, even if it’s a troll and even if it’s a flame…scratch that, especially if it’s a flame. There’s nothing more satisfying for a writer to see the comment count rise, far more so than it is to see the view count rise. You could simply be getting over 100 hits a day just because a picture on the page just so happens to appear on the front page of google images when you type in ‘Bleach’. Comments prove your post has been read and the person actually cared enough to process what you wrote and go through that oh so tiresome process of typing out a semi-coherrant response. So this post is a celebration of these comments, what they meant, what they signify and what on earth was going through the writers mind when he wrote them. Comment moar folks!

Nicked off ANN's Shelf Life. Extremely accurate depiction if I may say so myself

My original plan for this post was to go through the old posts and pick out some of my favourite comments but that was a waaaay too time-consuming and tedious project. However I’d already typed out the opening paragraph and I didn’t want to let it go to waste so instead I’ll just pick out my personal favourite comment we ever got. While it may be simply dismissed as spam, there’s something oddly genuine about the comment that makes you wonder “is he actually serious?”.

    I was going to ask for 10 billion dollars funding but I was afraid he was going to rob a bank or worse =(

    Maybe I should have asked, the bank job could have went smoothly and we can have 2 billion each!

    @kaza

    Didn’t you know? That’s why Brian was missing for about a year. The grand unveiling should come this Christmas

    @ksfwolfe

    Someone somewhere is working on a giant robot. It will happen one day

    @DAndrews

    Seriously? Mwahaha, who said blogs are detrimental to anime companies?

    @kadian1364

    Or so I hear eh? Never thought about blogging yourself?

    Brian and I been looking for the whispered, I propose mithril as our new team name!

  11. Posted November 11, 2009 at 2:15 am | Permalink

    @Loba

    Hey, if every whispered is as hot as Tessa then I fully support that project

  12. Posted November 11, 2009 at 2:31 am | Permalink

    That comment was really suspicious. We’re talking about a guy from the Middle East willing to fund for a weapon tech development. And it’s Gundam, of all the things. Does he even know what is anime to begin with?

    @Loba: Change the blog team name to mithril? Can’t really decide right now. Any other suggestions? I was thinking for something simple though, say Team Bokutachi, since it is from our blog name anyways.

    “Team Bokutachi”… Idk… It would be said as “Team Our”… I’m just a newb thats new to the team and don’t have that much word in it, but I think there are better names then that…

    so where did team Zero come from… I thought it was cool.

    OH! I got something you all could work with… check this out, this is something I thought of just today…

    Animology n.(a-ni-moh-lou-gee):
    The study or reviewing of anime as a whole or a particular anime show. These studies are normally done by dedicated Animologists, or what some people would call Bloggers. These Animologists are supported daily by well-informed and dedicated Comentiers, who imply constructive criticism to any theory an Animologist may have. Both Animologists and Comentiers work around what is now known as the Anim-Blogsphere.

    lol, I thought it was pretty funny, and cool I guess. Sorry if I’m getting a little in over my head here. But… Hey Scamp & Brian, maybe you can come up with something creative to do with this…

    Are we really changing our name? Why?

  15. Posted November 12, 2009 at 7:48 pm | Permalink

    Yeah, not a fan of Team Bokutachi either. I kinda like Team Zero myself. We’re all fans of Code Geass here anyway…aren’t we?

    DUDE, I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEAN!!!! I’m definitely adding you to my blogroll tomorrow JUST for that. I swear, I haven’t really done a lot of “press” for my site yet, especially since it’s not on wp.com (im using wp.org open-source) and even though people read, it’s hard to get comments sometimes. Anyways, looks like you got a lot of comments now! lol shake n bake dude.
