Bakuman season 2 episode 1

Oh no, not again.

There’s something a little bit worrying about the fact that the first episode of the Bakuman sequel has been my favourite episode of the season so far. Come on the rest of you new anime, you can’t allow yourself to be beaten by bloody Bakuman.

Mangaka are weird

Man, there was me, all prepared to bring out the hating game on Bakuman once again, only for the episode to be genuinely entertaining. I even laughed out loud at one point. Yikes, I think I need a lie down. This new mangaka is hilarious, psychoanalysing his creation and spouting lines at his editor only for him to fob them off. In fact, I liked how strange all the mangaka looked compared to their down to earth editors. Compare the eccentric Nizuma to the editors surrounding him. Also, if this is the Shounen Jump party, why didn’t we get a cameo from the author of One Piece or something like that?

Gurls are stoopid

This is a man’s workplace, you stupid new editor. Why did you bring a girl? You know what girls are like, flaunting their pheromones around the place. She may wear a short skirt and perhaps even flirt! Can you imagine the disruption it would cause on our group of manly mangaka working hard like men should do? *sigh* There’s a part of me that keeps hoping Bakuman will stop being sexist. When the editor seemed to be confused about why the boys had a problem with a girl, he thought it was because she might be uncomfortable staying over. I like this new editor, even if he did seem to be rather reluctant in his choice to hire a girl. Can you imagine it? A girl working on shounen manga!?! Next thing we know they’ll start wearing trousers and having a vote.

Animation still derpy

Maybe the fancy pants editor with the really small eyes looked better in manga form or something, but by god does his character design ever look shite here. Plus they still can’t seem to decide what shape Hattori’s face is. She Who Must Not Be Named still has a head that looks like a painted egg. Mashiro and Takagi’s faces still derp out when they display emotion. Anyone hoping Bakuman would get a bigger budget for the second season and improve its animation, there’s bad news for you. Animation is still as derpy as hell.

Blogging Plans?

Oh god no. I am not blogging this shit for another season.

So not even a teensy-tiny chance of you blogging this then?

I was half expecting to see Kubo lounging ’bout in his dude shades trolling everyone he meets…

Not a teensy tiny chance. Now don’t ask or I might change my mind and nobody wants that, least of all me

Hmm, I was only planning on actually FINISHING this if you were blogging.

Looks like Bakuman stays on the possible chopping block.

      Just finished it

…. Must better than expected. Seriously, this was the best first episode so far.

It gets better I SWEAR! loljk.

Having read the manga, and how the anime does it, expect to see the same Bakuman you saw last season, except with more Hiramaru.

I don’t care HOW good this first episode is — there’s no way in hell I’m watching this second season!

I only watch it out of some sort of bizarre respect for the creator of Death Note

I plan to continue watching this just because of the new characters— especially the new mangaka. I gave up on the love story behind it. Once the new character goes derpy… time to remove.

I’m probably going to watch this. At least until they do something particularly good or bad. I agree with you about not blogging it, though. I mean the best thing I can say about this episode is that they successfully avoided the things I hated the worst about the first season. I am still interested in the insights into the manga publishing industry, I just hope they come more frequently than 1st season.

I always thought Nizuma was meant to be based on the One Piece manga artist.

Hiramaru sensei is awesome, especially in the later parts of the manga, he is so funny, you thought he was being negative right now, lol

This first episode was pretty good, if I do say so.
